The Job Search Advisory Panel

The Job Forum is fortunate to have dedicated, knowledgeable volunteers advise job seekers and brainstorm ideas for how each job seeker can be more successful in his or her search.

The Job Forum Panel usually comprised of 20-25 volunteers who rotate in pairs to advise job seekers at the Wednesday evening open forums.

Each panelist is knowledgeable about the Bay Area job market and job search techniques that work well here. The panel represents an interesting cross section of business (including large companies, mid-size firms and sole proprietorships) and non-profit organizations as well. The panel has expertise in high technology, e-commerce, marketing, consulting, human resources, etc.

Collectively, the panel has a wealth of knowledge about:

  • Bay Area companies
  • Bay Area job search resources
  • Requirements for various kinds of jobs and positions
  • Experience inside Bay Area companies and organizations
  • Knowledge of usual "Hiring Manager" perspectives
  • Understanding of industry personnel practices
  • Awareness and perspective on effective job finding techniques

Long Term Panel Participation

The Job Forum could not have continued as successfully as it has without the commitment and "staying power" of its panel members. Many volunteers have 8 or more years of volunteer experience. They stay with the Job Forum throughout their own career transitions. As a group of advisors, they are unique in dedication, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the opportunity to guide and encourage others.

Of course, the Job Forum panel stays current with career search practices. For example, we have incorporated Internet job search and job fairs into the topics covered at the Job Forum.
