Job Forum panelists are leading career experts and top executives with decades of professional and volunteer experience. Many of our panelists stay with The Job Forum throughout their own career transitions providing personal knowledge and expertise helping to guide and encourage others.

HARKINS, RICK
Rick Harkins recently retired as a Principal Scientist with Bayer Healthcare’s Global External Innovation and Alliances group located in San Francisco, CA. He is a member of the Science Hub, a partnering arm of Bayer specializing in establishing and managing early stage research collaborations with academic groups and startup biotech companies. Rick has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry for over 30 years and has held positions of increasing responsibility in research and development of protein and gene-based therapeutics. He obtained a BS at Santa Clara University, PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Oregon, and completed postdoctoral studies at Marischal College, Aberdeen University, Scotland, and the University of California, San Diego. Rick began his industrial career as a Senior Scientist in the Department of Protein Chemistry at Genentech, and established and led the protein micro-sequencing lab where several human proteins were first purified, cloned and expressed using recombinant DNA technology. Rick’s research in biopharmaceutical drug discovery has contributed to the launch of several marketed biological drugs, including human growth hormone (Protropin), tissue-plasminogen activator (Activase), human interferon beta (Betaseron), and factor VIII (Kogenate).

Stephen is a senior consultant at Strategic Decisions Group a global strategy consulting firm known for applying leading-edge decision theory and processes to create shareholder value. Jeanne is the principal at Passarelle Consulting and she is the Associate Director of Career Services for UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business’ part time MBA offerings, including the Berkeley-Columbia Executive MBA program. Jeanne is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and she combines deep functional and industry experience with insight and wisdom and applies it to professionals seeking career direction. Nancy Longo has an established track record in television and business and she is journalist at Longo Job Report and KPIX (CBS5). She began her television career over 20 years ago in Los Angeles, CA. She has met and interviewed newsmakers in politics and business, including former Vice President Al Gore’s wife, Tipper, top chefs, heads of industry, and more.  She has experience in hosting business shows and reporting on related topics.

Renee is the Asst. Circuit Executive for Conference and Education at the Office of Circuit Executives, Ninth Circuit, US Federal Courts.

Renee organizes and manages events for judges of the Ninth Circuit.
