Happy Success For a Job Hunter
Emily McNulty.
Job Hunter shares about her new position and really likes the leadership at her new job. The Job Forum welcomes a wide range of job hunters, including those looking for jobs in hospitality and restaurants.
This year, the Job Forum had a special event targeted for job hunters to talk with experts at restaurants, hotels and in the tourism industry. So, it is great to hear about a recent job-hunting success from Emily who works in the hospitality industry.
Her own advice for other job hunters:
“Don’t give up: identify exactly where you are running into problems and come tell the folks at The Job Forum exactly what is going on and ask for their guidance and for ideas you can use. Be as clear as you can about where you are hesitant or topics you are not as confident about covering and why, and that way they can and they will help you. Many Job Forum expert advisors have been in a similar situation to ours in the past, says Emily, and all are quite knowledgeable about how you can come across even better and conduct a more effective job search”.
What worked for Emily:
Emily says it was a bit more interview preparation and practice that was one area Emily and a Job Forum advisor identified as her biggest need. She says she really appreciates the time, the very concrete suggestions she got about how to convey her strengths, and the listening and advising attention that she received. It gave her ways to come across more confidently in her upcoming interviews.
Emily got a great result.
Emily changed companies and is now a Hospitality Operations leader at Holiday inn Express & Suites at Fisherman’s Wharf. She oversees the front desk, works closely with Sales and Reservations, and ensures guests have a positive stay and oversees the food and beverage functions on weekends. Emily says she appreciates the management leadership there because they are positive and provide a clear structure for the team.
“It is a smaller property than my previous hotel, and I like the hands-on interactions between the front office department and the whole organization.”
