Wednesday Job Forum: What is the real value of the small group sessions for job seekers every week for free at The Job Forum
One of the real values of these sessions is the “Ask us anything about your job search” format.
For more than 70 years, there have been businesspeople volunteering, talking individually within the small group and problem-solving with individual job hunters who are meeting together at the Wed evening Job Forum small events in San Francisco.
This small group is where 3 Job Forum volunteers from local business meet with job hunters. Everybody who is looking for work, speaks one by one about their own problem or uncertainty or asks for specific advice they can use to more effectively get on with looking for their next job.
Questions are answered and methods to try are offered. Many of the questions also get answers given by other job hunters facing similar issues.
Questions may involve:
-How to ask an employer a particular question?
– How to juggle multiple possible offers coming along?
– What does it mean when nobody talks to you at the target company where you submitted your application (how to deal with dead silence)
– How to check back with an employer politely, not be a pest?
-How to find informational interviews and referrals to connect with someone inside a target company?
– What new fields to explore when your current career seems to be dead?
-Why are you always the runner-up, rather than the winning candidate?
